Foster Care

Through a course of events we were given an opportunity to take in a girl who is in the foster care system.  She was part of our church and in our youth group and has been in a residential facility for quite some time.  We didn't think that it would be allowable by our adoptiong agency but when God is in control anything is possible!!!!

She was told last month (Nov 2012) that she would be coming to stay with us....well it is now a month later and still nothing.... I had spoken to the supervisor at DCF and was told that because we are not licensed she would not be able to come to us until that process in complete.  We have already begun our homestudy for the adoption and were told that because this is a special case we would have some time for that.  I was a bit deflated.  I have been communicating with this young girl and our family is anxious for her to come to us. Yesterday a friend of mine called me to inquire on the status, I pretty said we are just "waiting".  Another friend of mine called and said that she felt God telling her to fast for this girl so that the process would move along quickly.  By the end of the day we were assigned a social worker, a behavoralist, paperwork was being worked on....WOW!!!!!!  Today I get a phone call to verify a few things and was told that everything has been approved and is being sent on to start visits and eventually get her home with us!

I can't tell you how grateful I am for the outpouring of the love and support we have gotten from our family and friends.  A year ago, I never dreamed we would be entertaining adoption OR foster care and here we are in the midst of both.  God's heart truly breaks for those alone, for those in need, for those who are suffering, for those who feel as if they have no hope.  Jesus is hope!  I pray that we would be worthy of the call that God has blessed us with.  I pray that we would be the vessel that He has called us to be.

Next year we will be a family of 7....WOW!!!!!

Praise God from whom all blessing flow!!!!!!
